Boiling Eggs

Air fryer boiled eggs

By Tanya Francis · Updated

You can cook eggs in the shell in an air fryer with no water at all. Strictly speaking they're baked, not boiled, but they come out like boiled eggs. Keep the heat low so the shells don't scorch.

Times at 270°F (130°C)

DonenessTime
Soft9 to 10 min
Jammy11 to 12 min
Medium13 to 14 min
Hard15 to 17 min

Large eggs from the fridge. Air fryers vary a lot by size and model, more than stovetops do. Cook one test egg first, write down what you got, and adjust by a minute either way.

How to do it

  1. Set the air fryer to 270°F (130°C). Preheat it if your model expects that.
  2. Put the eggs in the basket in one layer, not touching.
  3. Cook for the time in the table.
  4. Move the eggs into ice water for 10 to 15 minutes.
  5. Peel and eat, or keep them in the fridge in the shell.

Good to know

Want something more predictable? The stovetop egg timer or the Instant Pot are easier to repeat.

Questions people ask

What temperature do you air fry eggs?

A low setting works best. 270°F (130°C) is a common starting point. Higher heat browns and spots the shells more.

How long do you air fry eggs for hard boiled?

About 15 to 17 minutes at 270°F (130°C) for large eggs from the fridge, then an ice bath. Test one egg first, because air fryers vary.

Do you need water to boil eggs in an air fryer?

No. The eggs go straight into the basket, dry.

Do the times work in a Ninja air fryer?

They're a starting point for any brand. Basket size and fan strength change things, so cook one test egg and adjust.
